I am in my years when speaking the half year is suddenly very important to me again. Remember when it was vital to say, “I am 5 and a half!” ? Well, I am now pleased to say that I am 77 and a half. I am also pleased to say that I am still a pastor full-time, building a better worship center, and conducting prayer conferences in many churches and associations. I teach/disciple/counsel many people every day. I write and share these writings in several venues. I pray in a hunger for revival, church awakening, and a Spiritual Awakening to the redemption of millions of souls. I do all this even as my body ages and becomes weaker. Yes, that half a year is special again in my life!
Some Christians including some pastors have asked why I continue to minister at my age. I have a few very important answers: First, God clearly called me into this life of ministry and showed extreme patience and wisdom unto me until I submitted to His call. I have no right to limit His call, only God holds that prerogative. Then, I owe Him a debt that I cannot repay and knowing this I strive to add service as a show of gratitude. The churches need loving peacemaker pastors in these troubled years. Believers must be discipled to be disciplers. Those without Christ need my prayers and loving guidance to connect with the LORD. The communities around me need the Light of Christ in me to lighten their dark world. Everyone deserves love and hope, and those are found in Christ Jesus alone.
So, why do I continue to live out my call? The early Apostles did. They died ministering. Oh, there might be a change in venue; Paul ministered while in prison. John even served his call while on Patmos.
The bottom line is this: It is worth it because you are worth it! After all, Jesus gave His life for you; He expects the same from all His called servants. It ain’t over till God says it’s over! Keep On, Keeping On!
