My favorite Presidents on what a Christian marriage is to be! I have not seen that witnessed to America in a long time. I so much admired the marriages of President Harry Truman and his wife Bess, President Jimmy Carter and Rosalynn, and then President Ronald Reagan and Nancy!
Some of my friends did not like Jimmy as President. So be it. I am talking about the humanity of Jimmy!
When an April 1980 rescue mission crashed in the Iranian desert, Carter surely knew that his chances for reelection had cratered too. But he quickly went on nationwide television to take full blame for the failure. “It was my decision to attempt the rescue operation,” Carter said. “It was my decision to cancel it when problems developed in the placement of our rescue team for a future rescue operation. The responsibility is fully my own.”
Jimmy Carter erred. But he did not flinch.
What I treasure is his love of Rosalynn and his family and all of mankind. Jimmy also taught Sunday school at his home Church for years and years! He served the poor. He was not afraid of work! Here is my favorite comment by Jimmy: “I have one life and one chance to make it count for something… My faith demands that I do whatever I can, wherever I am, whenever I can, for as long as I can with whatever I have to try to make a difference.” Carter Work Project
Jimmy Carter’s grandson said Tuesday that the former president is “coming to the end” in a brief update about the 39th president’s health.
“(My grandfather) is doing OK,” Jason Carter said at a mental health forum named in honor of his grandmother, the late former first lady Rosalynn Carter, at the Carter Center. “He has been in hospice, as you know, for almost a year and a half now, and he really is, I think, coming to the end that, as I’ve said before, there’s a part of this faith journey that is so important to him, and there’s a part of that faith journey that you only can live at the very end and I think he has been there in that space.” More Here
