The Jerusalem Post reports that yesterday (6/16/2024), Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced the end of Israel’s war cabinet during a meeting of the statutorily-mandated National Security Cabinet (“NSC”).  Netanyahu stated that “the [war] cabinet was in the coalition agreement with [National Unity MK Benny] Gantz, at his request.  As soon as Gantz left – there is no need for a cabinet anymore.”

During Sunday’s NSC meeting, Netanyahu said that “in order to reach the goal of eliminating the capabilities of Hamas, [I] made decisions that were not always acceptable to the military echelon.  We have a country with an army and not an army with a country.”

The Jerusalem Post article may be read in full HERE.

My brothers and sisters, not unlike any democratically-operating country, there will always be push and pull, and certainly when a country is facing an existential threat and is at war.

That said, the former war cabinet was an effort to provide enhanced internal security with fully-trusted partners regarding sensitive matters involving the Hamas-Israel War.  With Benny Gantz no longer participating, the concept of the war department – which was somewhat duplicative of the NSC – became unnecessary.

With Israel well on its way to completing the destruction of the terrorist organization Hamas in Rafah, Netanyahu is holding the line and refuses to acquiesce to the United Nations and even the United States in ending the war without first eradicating Hamas – which would inevitably result in Hamas declaring “victory” and eventually attacking Israel yet again.

Hamas breaks every known and internationally-accepted rule of warfare.  It is a terrorist organization with the expressed goal of killing all Jews and removing the nation of Israel from the face of the earth.  It should come as no surprise that continuing cajoling and handwringing by fearful and risk-averse nations, including the United States, persists in hopes that an acceptable ‘settlement’ would be obtained.  This is simply not a reality.  Sometimes evil understands only one thing, brute force.

We should remember that Israel is the only free, democratically-functioning country in the Middle East, and that Israel is the only true ally to the United States in the region.  We should also remember that the Jewish people are God’s chosen people!

Let’ continue to pray for a quick, decisive and just end to the war!

When it becomes necessary to “pick sides” in a spiritual battle, it is always best to consider what the bible has to say about God’s chosen people:

Genesis 12:3 (NKJV)
The LORD said to Abram (later Abraham):  “I will bless those who bless you, [a]nd I will curse him who curses you; [a]nd in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”

Deuteronomy 7:6 (NKJV)
“For you [the Jews] are a holy people to the Lord your God; the Lord your God has chosen you to be a people for Himself [emphasis mine], a special treasure above all the peoples on the face of the earth.”

Zechariah 2:8-10 (NKJV)
“For thus says the Lord of hosts:  ‘He sent Me after glory, to the nations which plunder you; for he who touches you touches the apple of His eye.  For surely I will shake My hand against them, and they shall become spoil for their servants.  Then you will know that the Lord of hosts has sent Me.  Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion [Jerusalem]!  For behold, I am coming and I will dwell in your midst,’ says the Lord.”

Praise Jesus forevermore!
