VOICES: 10 reasons for pollution in the pulpit today

This is an excellent message! I have seen so much damage done to the Church in my 15 years as a Circuit preacher. Even before that I was speaking at Churches around New Mexico when I was manager of KKIM Christian Radio. You will see in this article by Mr. Mattera that he lists this as the number one reason for polluted pulpits: The pastor has an unholy union with politicians. Man this did and is doing great damage to the America Church. I have my list! There are Churches that I will not go back to, God has told me not to. I am not a politician! MOST OF ALL GOD IS NOT A POLITICAN! GOD IS GOD! One of the other reasons that he lists is one the I have seen too many times:  The lead pastor is surrounded by ‘yes men’ SAD! NO ACCOUNTABILITY!  I have been asked about 4 or 5 times to work with Churches going through a split in my 15 years. I know too well what causes Churches to fail. The former leader of the Baptist Convention in New Mexico,  Joseph Bunce told me when I was working with one Church years ago, “Dewey, some Churches just need to have a funeral!” That stunned me! That made me feel bad as I was working with the Church is was talking about! I learned a great deal from that conversation that is with me to this day. That meeting with Mr. Bunce and his advice has impacted me forever! I pick up on dysfunction real quick, the Lord shows me! I will not stand for it!

I was recently with a friend of mine who said that his city is in such a mess because “the pulpits are polluted!” When he said this, I immediately began to think and pray about the implications and reasons for this strong statement. Upon reflection, I found his statement to be true based on conversations I have had with numerous leaders across the globe.

I beleive the LORD is doing a great shaking of the Church, God will filter out the ones He wants to! God has shown me this. I am just a little small time Pastor, just trying to do what God says. I have come to comfort the inflicted and inflict the comfortable. Many have been hurt by the American Church. Sharon and I hear that all the time on our Great Commission ventures! Many Churches are now branded by one of the two political parties in America! What a shame! politics is the playground of Satan!
