Windom, Minnesota Woman Steps Up Big Time During The Flood

Pastor Dewey Moede: My bother Dave and his lovely wife Denise were forced out of their home in Windom by the flood. My sister Deb is surrounded by water on her farm near Reading, Minnesota. I have wept over this. This flood seems to be worse than the great flood of 1969. Back then it took the effort of the whole community to battle that flood, just like here in 2024. So many have come together to help during this time of need for many, it made me weep to see the hearts of so many helping. I love my hometown and I wish I was there to help.

This is how America is to work, work together to help each other. It is on display in Windom, Minnesota and so many other communities across America, because of floods and wildfires.

Love and care for others……

A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another:
just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.

By this all people will know that you are my disciples,
if you have love for one another.
John 13:34-35

Photo of the Windom, Minnesota Baseball Park. Thank you KDOM Radio for this photo. One of the best ball parks in America. I have had the blessing of playing on that FIELD OF DREAMS as a little boy! GREAT MEMORIES NOW FOR AN OLD GUY! By the way the way the town team is named the Pirates, that is why you see the Pirate ship beyond the outfield fence. Hard to beleive the water got that high. Reminds be of the 1969 flood! So very, very tragic. My heart is broken.

I want to thank KEYZ TV for this wonderful story! This report comes out of my hometown of Windom, Minnesota that was hit so very hard by flood waters like so many communities in Minnesota, Iowa, South Dakota and other states. New Mexico has had floods and fires. It is a very, very tough time for many in America.

One person who has stood out to me as a powerful, loving leader in the effort to help during the flood is Hilary Mathis. I watched her in action on Facebook! Here at FGGAM we shared many of her posts as she put out the alarm to help fill sandbags and help with other needs of flood victims. I pray I meet her someday! What a precious heart! God Bless you Hilary and all those who are helping during this disaster. Windom has come together as one people to help each other. Windom strong!

WINDOM, Minn. (KEYC) – When flooding hit the lower half of Minnesota, a woman in Windom used the tools she had to fight back. A big part of her plan: rally her entire community.

“This has been the worst flood that I’ve ever seen in Windom,” area resident Diane Kruger said.

When flooding was at its peak in Windom, people were struggling to contain the ever-present water climbing its way up from the lakes and rivers.

“You can’t save everyone, but I feel like if you can help you should,” Hilary Mathis said. More Here
