Fewer Americans see religion as an important aspect of their lives, and it shows in their beliefs and actions.

Gallup survey finds U.S. adults are less likely to identify with a religion, say religion is very important to them, belong to a congregation or attend worship services.

Religious identification

Most Americans still identify with a religion, and Christianity is by far the largest faith group in the United States. But the percentage of Christians has fallen to a historic low. In 2023, 68 percent of U.S. adults said they were a Christian, the lowest percentage since Gallup began asking in the 1940s.

Specifically, 33 percent of Americans identify as Protestant, 22 percent Catholic, and 13 percent say they are another Christian religion or simply refer to themselves as “Christian.”

While the rapid rise of the religiously unaffiliated appears to be over, that still amounts to more than 1 in 5 Americans (22 percent). Another 7 percent identify with a non-Christian religion, including 2 percent Jewish, 1 percent Muslim, and 1 percent Buddhist.

Much of the decline of Christianity has happened in the past 20 years. In 2003, 83 percent of Americans claimed to be Christian, statistically unchanged from 84 percent in 1993 and only a slight drop from 86 percent in 1983. The high-water mark for Christian identification in Gallup’s survey was 96 percent in 1956. More Here

Pastor Dewey note: 1956 was the year Pastor I was born, maybe that is why I am so passionate about God. We see it is not only the Church declining in America, it is the entire country. We are a divided nation, only God can bring us back together. I have plowed so much ground over the last several years talking about this issue. It is frustrating for me to see the Church decline, so many Christians not carry out The Great Commission. The American Church is losing souls………

I have stated for years politics has torn apart not only the country, but the Church. Only if people knew that others cannot see JESUS through their politics. Too many Churches are identified by their politics and not their faith in God.

More Pastors need to hit the streets in their communities on talk to unbelievers. Please build bridges of love and trust with an unbelieving world, its not going to happen inside your Church, your preaching to the choir.

George Barna: “People have become more selfish, churches have become less influential, pastors have become less Bible-centric”

Why Churches Talk the Great Commission But Don’t Do It

Listen to those that do not go to Church…….you we learn things you may not want to hear.

FGGAM is a Great Commission Ministry. All GLORY TO GOD

Is the United States of America in Bible prophecy?

We believe the Holy Scriptures of the Old Testament and New Testament are the inerrant, inspired, and infallible Word of God.
God’s Word is the final authority for faith and life.
We believe there is only one God, and He has chosen to reveal Himself
as God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
