Fox News reports that Lieutenant Colonel Matt Lohmeier, a former commander with the U.S. Space Command who was fired and stripped of his pension after criticizing the military’s push for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (“DEI”) training and compliance, is calling for a change in military leadership.

During a Fox News Digital interview, Lohmeier said that he was betrayed for publicly speaking against DEI after stating that DEI divided troops, decreased morale, negatively affected military readiness, and that it was “steeped in critical race theory [and] is rooted in anti-American, Marxist ideology.”

Lohmeier’s interview with Fox News Digital may be watched HERE.

My brothers and sisters, Lohmeier claims that in an all-volunteer military, a return to merit-based promotion and leadership is necessary to restore morale, recruitment and retention, asserting that military leaders in support of DEI are creating division, not removing it.  He also asserts that his concerns about DEI are not based on partisan politics, but on what he perceives as anti-Americanism.

He made a point that really struck this writer, which was that current military leaders “pretend to care about diversity, [but] not diversity of thought.”  Lohmeier’s abrupt removal from the military and stripping away of his earned military pension speaks loudly to this point.

Regarding diversity of thought, and especially regarding one’s views on DEI and the military, what seems to be lacking in Lohmeier’s video (and in society in general) is any mention of faith or God’s will for our lives.  In other words, what is missing is having a BIBLICAL WORLDVIEW.

In fact, it’s amazing how throughout all of the discussion, policies, resulting angst, protests, and court cases in our society today, that the answer to the problems we face with racial, ethnic and DEI-related matters is sought everywhere except in Jesus.

No number of manmade ideologies and training programs designed to provide equity and justice in the absence of the wisdom of God will produce beneficial and lasting results, because the truth is discerned through the wisdom of God obtained through prayer, the bible and the prompting of the Holy Spirit (see Proverbs 2:6 and 1 Corinthians 3:19).  As this writer has stated many times, according to the bible, the Truth is a Person and His name is Jesus (see John 14:6)!

Regardless of color, race, creed or position in life, the bible tells us to love others, serve others, edify and seek the best for others, put others’ needs before our own, defer to others, lay down our lives for others, see others as Christ sees them (as loved and cherished by God), forgive others (as we too need forgiveness), and to walk out the Great Commission by praying and living our day-to-day lives such that others might come to a saving faith in Christ Jesus, learning to trust Him fully and seek God’s will and guidance in all of our endeavors.  It is the will of God for ALL to be saved (see 1 Timothy 2:4-6)!

We are the hands and feet of Christ on the earth, housed in physical bodies with a soul (i.e., our mind, will and emotions) and our spirit (which is renewed when we are born again through faith in Christ).  We have the blessing and privilege of being led by the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit, who proceeds from the Father and testifies of Jesus (see John 15:26)!

The ideological divide in our country right now, which in many ways transcends a simple ‘left v. right’ or ‘conservative party v. liberal party’ approach to government and life, is based upon the ‘wisdom of the world’ without consideration of what our Creator would have to say about things.  We rely on our own understanding, which will eventually lead to failure or destruction.  What about simply seeing each other as equally valued and important because that’s how God made us and sees us?

Let’s pray for those in our military, including the military’s civilian leaders (see 1 Timothy 2:1-3), asking the Father to open eyes and ears to the truth of the scriptures, the salvation found in Christ, and the critical importance of seeking the wisdom of God in all things!  Amen.

Here are the above-mentioned scriptures:

Proverbs 2:6 (NKJV)
“For the Lord gives wisdom; [f]rom His mouth come knowledge and understanding…”.

1 Corinthians 3:19 (NLT)
“For the wisdom of this world is foolishness to God.  As the Scriptures say, ‘He traps the wise in the snare of their own cleverness.’”

John 14:6 (NKJV)
“Jesus said to [Thomas], ‘I am the way, the truth [emphasis mine], and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through Me.’”

1 Timothy 2:4-6 (NKJV)
God Desires All To Be Saved
“[God our Savior] desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.  For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself a ransom for all…”.

John 15:26 (NKJV)
The Holy Spirit Proceeds from the Father and Testifies of Jesus
“But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will testify of Me [Jesus].”

1 Timothy 2:1-3 (ESV)
“First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way.  This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior…”.

Praise Jesus forevermore!
