How should Christians respond to a watered-down GOP platform?

Family Research Council’s Travis Weber, who’s been involved in previous platforms, was shocked at the attempt to “rig the process.” As he put it, “[T]here was an attempt to silence dissent.” Fellow FRC Vice President Brent Keilen agreed on this week’s “Outstanding” podcast, pointing out that delegates barely had a chance to read the document before the vote was called. “There was virtually zero debate.” As the Times described it, this was the result of months of careful planning. The RNC, led by Trump, would “steamroll” their vision to victory, which they apparently defined as a short, vague, diluted platform that read more like a campaign fundraising email than a guiding party light.

One of the best editorials I have read. Excellent points! America needs a strong third party, both parties are failing our country. Both the GOP and DEMS play ‘political football’ with God’s babies! They think they can get on the throne of God and rule the world! SHAME! Bring back the TEA PARTY! The GOP hijacked it years ago. Tea Party movement…MORE SHAME! God will have His way with us all……..a couple of years ago I had a GOP leader here in New Mexico that “abortion in New Mexico will never end.” What a kick in the rear. More SHAME! It was Mark Twain who said, “The only difference between a Democrat and Republican is the spelling.”

Now that Americans have had a chance to digest the political earthquakes of the last week and a half, a lot of conservatives are circling back to a major disappointment that, like most news, faded to the background when Donald Trump was shot. Even after the bombshell that Joe Biden is exiting the 2024 race, the mainstream media seems intent on returning to a thread that created big waves before the first shots ever rang out in Butler, Pennsylvania: a radically-rewritten GOP platform that leaves decades of pro-life and pro-family values behind.

Under Trump, GOP Softens Abortion Stance,” headlines declared. Some wondered, “Is the Republican Party Becoming Pro-Choice?” Others were openly critical: “RNC’s New Abortion Stance Betrays GOP’s Founding, Pro-Life Activist Says.” The New York Times went a step further, blowing the doors off the RNC’s “ruthless” effort to hijack the process, “confiscating” delegates’ cell phones, refusing debate, and ultimately ramming the former president’s document through without amendments. More Here

So the GOP is going to allow murder!!!????
What does the Bible say about abortion? Simply put, abortion is murder. It is the killing of a human being created in the image of God.

Why So Much Evil?

“So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking. They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts” Eph 4: 17, 18.

The Scriptures call the mind of the natural man “blinded” 2 Cor. 4:4, “depraved” Romans 1:28, “corrupt” 1 Tim. 6:5, and “unspiritual” Col. 2:18. The natural mind thinks from a humanistic, sin-debased viewpoint. The viewpoint of the flesh directs its thoughts. The sinful mind is under the control of Satan and can never please God because it concentrates on things of the world and not things of the Spirit. The natural mind walks the road of hopelessness and self-destruction.

The phrase “dead to the world” appears in the Bible in Galatians 6:4, which says, “I am crucified to the world”. John Piper says that this phrase means that when someone trusts in Christ, their old, unbelieving self dies. The new person is characterized by: Trusting in Christ, Enjoying the life of Christ, and Living by faith.

Bottom line: Stand firm in God’s grace as a living hope in a dying world. Peter encourages suffering Christians to stand firm in God’s grace because of the living hope of the cross and resurrection that they have received through the new birth.
