The Associated Press (“AP News”) is reporting this morning (7/15/2024) that U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon has dismissed the prosecution of former President Donald J. Trump.

Judge Cannon determined that Department of Justice’s Special Counsel Jack Smith was illegally appointed under the U.S. Constitution’s Appointments Clause.

The decision brings a stunning and abrupt conclusion to a criminal case that at the time it was filed was widely regarded as the most perilous of all the legal threats faced by Trump, who was charged with dozens of felony counts accusing him of illegally hoarding classified documents at his Mar-a-Lago estate.

My brothers and sisters, this writer is thankful that the rash of federal and state cases filed against the former president and current GOP candidate for president are falling apart.  What is strikingly clear is that the illegality in Jack Smith’s prosecution was noted by many from the start.

I am thankful for Judge Cannon, who does not appear to be unduly swayed by personal or ideological views.

The importance of this ruling cannot be understated.

The bible tells us that we are to pray for the strength to resist evil and sin in our lives, even if we are in high offices, so that our sin will be forgiven and the favor of God will rest upon us:

Psalm 19:13 (Amplified Bible)
“Also keep back Your servant from presumptuous (deliberate, willful) sins; [l]et them not rule and have control over me.  Then I will be blameless (complete), [a]nd I shall be acquitted of great transgression.”

Praise Jesus forevermore!
