KOB 4 News reports that the oppressive heat will continue today in portions of New Mexico, including greater Albuquerque and the Chavez County Plains, with temperatures again expected to hit 100 degrees (or higher).

The heat advisory for Metro Albuquerque became effective today (8/20/2024) at 3:15 AM (MDT) with Moderate severity.  Temperatures of up to 100 degrees are expected beginning at 12:00 PM (Noon) and lasting until 8:00 PM.

The heat advisory for the Chavez County Plains became effective today at 3:15 AM (MDT) with Moderate severity.  Temperatures of up to 104 degrees are expected, beginning at 12:00 PM (Noon) and lasting until 8:00 PM.

My brothers and sisters, as this writer knows first-hand, it is very easy to be affected by excessive heat, resulting in dehydration and causing heat cramps, heat exhaustion or heat stroke.  Speaking from personal experience, once you have suffered a heat-related illness, you can become even more sensitive to the effects of the sun and excessive heat in the future.
