All Israel News reports that Reda Saad, a pro-Hezbollah television commentator in Lebanon, sparked online outrage after a video surfaced in which he warned Lebanese Christians to “be very careful” and stated that “the role of Christians in Lebanon has ended.”

Saad also warned Christians living in Lebanon that if they aligned themselves with U.S. interests, they could find themselves in a similar situation to Afghanis who worked with the Americans during the war in Afghanistan, seemingly implying that Hezbollah was planning to take control of the airport and the nation’s major ports.

Lebanon’s constitution shares power between differing religious factions, including Hezbollah, and by law the Lebanese president must be from a Christian political party.  As a result, Lebanon has been without a president since 2022.

My brothers and sisters, as if Lebanon’s situation and lack of a coherent national government could get any worse, Hezbollah continues to seize the vacuum created by the lack of a president, the lack of an effective national government, and the waning influence of Christians within the country.

Hezbollah has taken over Lebanon in a manner similar to what Hamas has done in Israel’s Gaza Strip and the West Bank, to the detriment of the country’s non-Muslin and peaceful citizens.  With Hezbollah supported by Iran and Israel ready to effect a major assault against Hezbollah at any moment, the situation is highly volatile.

As followers of Jesus, let’s pray for all the people of Lebanon, seeking God’s will to be done and asking that the Christian faith would see a resurgence, with our Christian brothers and sisters protected from the lies of the evil one.  We come against the evil of terrorism and violence, in Jesus’ name, and ask that a ‘hot’ war with the West would not become necessary.

God is always faithful to hear and answer our prayers, even when we are sometimes not so faithful.  The bible has much to say about the goodness of God and the power we have in prayer:

2 Chronicles 7:14 (NKJV)
“…if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”

Jeremiah 29:11-12 (NKJV)
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.  Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you.”

Mark 11:23-24 (NKJV)
“For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘[b]e removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.  Therefore[,] I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.”

Philippians 4:6-7 (NKJV)
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”

Praise Jesus forevermore!
