Social media has helped fill in the gaps of sharing information on people who have been seen and accounted for since torrential rain from Tropical Storm Helene caused mass flooding and landslides that have cut off communities like Asheville, Lake Lure, Chimney Rock, Fletcher, Banner Elk, Black Mountain, Sylva, Hendersonville and many, many more from reliable outside lines of communication.
One group on Facebook, Hurricane Helene Safety Check-in, has been circulating information and lists of names of people who have been accounted for and has also helped people try and find those who are still missing. More Here
