Roswell Flood: Gov. Lujan Grisham declares emergency, releases $1M for flood relief. State opens hotline for Chaves County residents today.

We mourn the the lives of the two people who have died in this severe flash flood. We pray for the families and friends of the deceased. We also pray for all those that are suffering from this tragedy. We are thankful for all the first responders. New Mexico, like many other states has been hit hard by wildfires and floods, so much of the state is still in the recovery process from disasters.

Oh Lord, as we try to comprehend the destruction that flooding causes to people’s lives, our hearts grieve. We ask for you to be with all who have suffered loss in floods, in the loving name of Jesus we pray, Amen!

At least two people have died and hundreds have been rescued in Roswell, New Mexico, according to the New Mexico State Police, after extreme overnight rainfall brought severe flooding, stranding motorists and sweeping away cars.

The New Mexico National Guard and other agencies have rescued at least 290 people, including 38 who were taken to hospitals, the agency confirmed in a statement.
