And now, dear children, continue in him, so that when he appears we may be confident and unashamed before him at his coming.

If you know that he is righteous, you know that everyone who does what is right has been born of him.

1 John 2:28-29

As believers, we should seek to abide in Christ and live for Him daily and that should give us confidence that when we meet Him face to face, we won’t be ashamed to face him.

We know we haven’t reached perfection and that we all have sinned and fallen short, but it’s more than just that. It’s a sense of knowing what He expects and putting all our effort into trying to please him.

“Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me.”

Philippians 3:12

Anyone, then, who knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, commits sin.

James 4:17

In essence, we should  live in such a way that we’d be unashamed to greet him.

“Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body be preserved complete, without blame at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. Faithful is He who calls you, and He also will bring it to pass.”

1 Thessalonians 5:23-24

First, our prayer life is a foundational block in our life and it’s extremely necessary in the process of not just everyday life, but also in us being ready to meet Jesus face to face. Because, if we plan on spending eternity with Him, it would benefit us to know him well, here and now!

Secondly, reading and studying scripture, like prayer, is essential if we want to be prepared for Christ’s return. Knowing His Word well, gives us insight to what Jesus said about the end times and His impending return, as well as giving us first hand knowledge of the seasons we’re in.

And…Thessalonians 4:18 says that believers should encourage one another with the truth of Christ’s imminent return.

The most important event we’re waiting for with open arms, can also be scary if we live a life that is not pleasing to God.

“My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.”

John 14:2-4

He’s gone to prepare a place to get ready for us, he’ll be back to get us. We have to be ready and not ashamed to face him.

Lord, thank you for your Word.

Many Blessings,

Connie.
