Eerie Enchantment: Dawson, New Mexico

Photo From New Mexico True. “...On October 22, 1913, an explosion in the mine killed 263 miners plus two rescuers...”

I called KOB TV yesterday if we could share this excellent piece of journalism with you! I told the man on the phone that this report is what journalism is to be. One of the best I have ever seen in all my years in journalism, which started at Brown in 1978 and continues here at FGGAM. Thank you Hawker Vanguard of KOB TV! GREAT WORK!

Journalism should make a person think…….and feel……this report made me weep…..it makes me care more about people and history….those that go before us to pave the way for all.

KOB TV: At its peak, Dawson produced more coal than any other mining town in the world, employing more than 9,000 workers and fueling industries across the globe.

But, by 1950 the mines were closed and homes were abandoned or moved. Many thought the community would be lost forever. More Here
