Winter Storm Watch: Heavy snow to impact much of northern and central New Mexico

KOB 4 News (Albuquerque, NM) reports this morning (11/5/2024) that Northbound Interstate 25 has reopened through Raton Pass, although icy, snow-packed conditions still remain in the area.

The closure yesterday went from mile marker 454, in Raton, to mile marker 460, at Raton Pass and the port of entry.

Interstate 25 has been closed from Raton, New Mexico to Colorado due to a winter storm with blizzard conditions.

Much of New Mexico is currently experiencing a winter storm or a wintery mix of weather expected to last into the evening.

KRQE News 13 (Albuquerque, NM) is reporting that snow and high winds have forced the closure of Interstate 25 North in Raton this morning (11/4/2024).  Northbound lanes between milepost markers 454 and 460 at the Colorado state line are closed, according to the New Mexico Department of Transportation.  Drivers are asked to stay home and off the roads due to blizzard conditions.  The KRQE News 13 report may be read HERE.

KOAT Action 7 News (Albuquerque, NM) is reporting that a winter storm warning has been issued for many parts of northern and central New Mexico until this evening.  Areas of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and the Sandia and Manzano Mountains can expect 7 to 14 inches of snow.  A winter weather advisory has been issued for areas around Gallup, Grants, Las Vegas, Clayton and Ruidoso, where one to five inches of snow is expected.  The KOAT Action 7 News report may be read HERE.
