I started officiating funerals back in 2008. It is a blessing to serve families at a time when they are hurting so badly. I have two services coming up. Every person, every service is different. Why? Everyone grieves differently. We must comfort those who are hurting. I have learned so much about God and people, I could write a book. I have heard so many stories about lives lived. Officiating funeral’s really, really gets you in touch with God. Recently, I was blessed to take part in the funeral services for Frank and Alice Haley. Two very precious people to me and Sharon. The lives of Frank and Alice preach JESUS. They taught me and Sharon much. Does your life turn people towards JESUS?

What do you say to someone who is mourning the death of a loved one? Recently, I heard from someone who had just suffered a terrible loss. As you might expect, friends and family gathered around wanting to console the grieving person. They said what we typically say at times like this: “I’m so sorry for your loss,” and “I can’t believe this happened,” and “I’m here if you need anything.” Try as we may, oftentimes in these moments our words seem more impotent than ever. The grieving person expressed an understandable frustration, “I’m tired of people telling me they’re sorry.” Who could blame them? As sincere as our sentiments are, they can’t raise the dead. More Here

My sister Deb Rogers lost her husband Paul to a farm accident over a year ago. They served the Worthington, Minnesota area so much love in their service to the community. Paul is deeply missed. Paul’s passing still stings my dear sister very much. Please keep her in your prayers.

I will share this with you…….so many folks do not have a Pastor anymore. I have discussed that issue many times. But, I just want you to know if you are looking for someone to do the service for your loved one, please contact me. The same goes for weddings and baptisims. I am blessed beyond words how God has blessed me and Sharon to help people.

Before I leave you……The Lord gave me this thought to share with you all. When I called the Hy-Vee store in Worthington to order more flowers for Deb a few months after Paul passed away, I told the young lady on the phone I was ordering flowers for Deb Rogers in memory of her hubby Paul. The young lady started to cry, as Paul had been her bus driver. What legacy are you going to leave behind?

Always remember those that are grieving…….your actions of love many times mean more than your words.

As Mark Twain said, “Live your life so that at your funeral even the undertaker cries.”
