FGGAM Photo: Sunday I preached Open at Door Bible Church in Los Alamos! My message was on VISION. Proverbs 29:18: “Where there is no vision, the people perish. But he keepeth the law, happy is he.” What is your vision for your life? God reveals his plan, he gives us guidance in regards to his plan. Those who follow his guidance are happy they do. Without vision Churches perish, communities perish, (Look at Albuquerque it is dying , no vision, families perish, kids roam the streets and get into trouble, that is Albuquerque. I love coming to Pastor Paul Jaramillo’s Church. I have made so many friends over the years like Denise and Betty! If you are looking for a Church home in the LA area. Let me know, I will put you in contact with Pastor Paul. The Church was about full yesterday and then we all enjoyed a Thanksgiving meal! Pastor Paul and his wife Pat are doing a tremendous outreach in the Los Alamos/Espanola area.
I pray God has given you a vision for your life and your walking it out, it is the only way to love. From the words of Clara Nelson: God gives us so many blessings each day, thank you Lord for health and strength. There are so many people lost on sin, Lord, please show me how to bring them in.

A Must Read From Charles Stanley: Overcoming Failure

A major part of the answer to this epidemic of kids with guns starts in the family of these kids. Where are the mom and dads? What kind of home are these children growing up in? Who is around to watch the children? Who disciplines the children? Who teaches them right from wrong? A lot of this nasty is a generational problem. Some children never get a chance to go to Sunday school or Church. I know that sounds old fashion, but it is the only way to raise our children, God’s way, not ours.

You can pass all the laws you want, but this is a heart issue. Hearts for Jesus. Yes, I am boring, I say the same thing all the time, but JESUS is always the answer. JESUS saves, man makes a mess. Very tragic to say, but Albuquerque continues down the trail to disaster.

Do you not see that are youth are being swept away by Satan?

The sad part here is that Church attendance in New Mexico and America continues to fall. 46% of Americans are now unchurched

Mental health issues……

Children exposed to guns, whether through witnessing violence, living in a high-crime area, or having access to firearms at home, can experience a range of mental health issues including anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), withdrawal, anger, and difficulty concentrating, often leading to poor academic performance and behavioral problems; the severity of these issues can be significantly impacted by the child’s age and the nature of their exposure to guns.

Key points about mental health impacts of guns on children:
  • Trauma from exposure to gun violence:

Witnessing or experiencing gun violence can lead to significant psychological trauma, often manifesting as PTSD symptoms like flashbacks, nightmares, and hypervigilance.

  • Increased anxiety and depression:

Children living in environments with high gun violence are more likely to experience anxiety and depression due to constant fear and insecurity.

  • Behavioral changes:

Exposure to guns can result in behavioral issues like aggression, social withdrawal, and difficulty regulating emotions.

  • Impact on school performance:

Mental health concerns related to gun violence can negatively affect a child’s ability to focus and learn in school.

  • Suicide risk:

Easy access to firearms can increase the risk of suicide attempts, especially among adolescents struggling with mental health issues.

Factors contributing to the severity of mental health issues:
  • Age of the child:

Younger children may be more susceptible to the psychological effects of gun violence.

  • Direct exposure to violence:

Witnessing a shooting or being directly threatened with a gun can have a more severe impact than simply living in a high-crime area.

  • Family dynamics:

A child’s family support system and coping mechanisms can influence how they process exposure to gun violence.

What can be done:
  • Mental health support:

Access to mental health professionals for therapy and counseling is crucial for children affected by gun violence.

  • Safe gun storage:

Securely storing firearms at home can significantly reduce the risk of accidental injuries and suicide attempts by children.

  • Community interventions:

Community programs aimed at reducing gun violence and promoting mental health awareness can be beneficial.

  • Parental education:

Parents should be informed about the potential mental health impacts of gun violence and how to talk to their children about safety concerns.

This is for informational purposes only. For medical advice or diagnosis, consult a professional.

Children may have access to guns due to a variety of reasons, including easy availability in their homes, a perceived need for self-defense, peer pressure, a desire to feel powerful, fear of violence in their community, or mental health issues, often leading to situations where they might access a gun without proper supervision or understanding of its danger.

Key factors contributing to children having access to guns:
  • Improper gun storage:

Many children gain access to guns because they are not securely stored at home, leaving them readily available to curious children.

  • Family culture:

In households where gun ownership is normalized, children may be more likely to have access to firearms.

  • Peer pressure:

Some children may feel pressured by peers to carry a gun to appear tough or gain social status.

  • Gang involvement:

Children involved in gangs may carry guns for protection or to assert dominance.

  • Violent environments:

Children living in neighborhoods with high crime rates may feel the need to carry a gun for self-defense.

  • Mental health issues:

Depression, anxiety, or suicidal thoughts can lead some children to consider using a gun to harm themselves.

  • Lack of awareness about gun safety:

Children might not fully understand the dangers of guns, increasing the risk of accidental injury.

Important considerations:
  • Access to mental health support:

Early intervention and access to mental health resources can be crucial in preventing children from accessing guns due to emotional distress.

  • Stricter gun control laws:

Implementing stricter regulations around gun ownership can help limit access to firearms for children.

  • Education and awareness campaigns:
Educating children and parents about gun safety is critical to prevent accidents and misuse.
