Fox News reports that U.S. Department of Justice (“DOJ”) Special Counsel Jack Smith asked Judge Tanya Chutkan this afternoon (11/25/2024) to approve a request to drop all charges against President-elect Donald J. Trump stemming from Smith’s investigation into the January 6, 2021 U.S. Capitol breach.

Smith had already filed a motion to vacate all court deadlines in the 2020 election interference case against Trump in Washington, D.C.

Smith’s case related to Trump’s alleged improper retention of classified documents was dismissed by a federal judge this summer.  The judge in that case ruled that Smith was unlawfully appointed as special counsel; although, there is a DOJ appeal pending in that case which may also be dropped.

NBC News is also reporting on this matter and notes that the U.S. Supreme Court handed Trump an early victory during July 2024 with its ruling on presidential immunity; however, a new federal grand jury re-indicted Trump on the same four felony charges in August 2024, alleging that Trump’s claims of mass voter fraud during the 2020 General Election were knowingly false.

Today, President-elect Trump’s spokesman, Steven Cheung, said that “today’s decision by the DOJ ends the unconstitutional federal cases against President Trump, and is a major victory for the rule of law.  The American People and President Trump want an immediate end to the political weaponization of our justice system, and we look forward to uniting our country.”

My brothers and sisters, the so-called ‘weaponization’ of the DOJ in multiple matters pertaining to President Trump have been a stain on our justice system, and in some ways, the entire country.

Following the 2024 General Election, with a clear result favoring more conservative policies and the reelection of Donald J. Trump, Jack Smith is taking the only reasonable approach, considering that he is almost certain to be fired on day one of the second Trump administration.

According to a federal judge this summer, it was ruled that Smith was not even legally appointed as special counsel.  The entirety of the congressional “J6” hearings appears to have been a monumental waste of time and resources, as the rules of evidence were loosely followed (if followed at all) and the J6 Committee was disbanded with no action resulting.

Additionally, it has been alleged for months now that all of the ‘supporting’ evidentiary documentation pertaining to the actions and findings of the J6 Committee has been destroyed or deleted, leaving no means to produce the documentation for a new congressional investigation into the conduct of the J6 Committee.

Let’s pray that all of the political gamesmanship, ‘gotcha’ politics and alleged misuse of the country’s premier law enforcement and regulatory agencies for partisan political purposes will be put behind us, and that we will move forward as a nation with godly leadership and policies reflecting the true meaning and intent of the U.S. Constitution and its inherent liberties.

Times such as this absolutely require godly wisdom.  Whether we are governmental officials making or carrying out policies impacting all of our lives, or we are simply hard working, patriotic citizens taking care of our families, the Answer remains the same.  The Answer is always Jesus!  You see, the Truth is a Person and His name is Jesus!

John 14:6 (NKJV)
“Jesus said to [Thomas], ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through Me.’”

According to the Bible, true wisdom come from God.  An honorable life is the fruit of good works done in the humility that flows from (godly) wisdom.  Jealousy and selfish ambition are not of the Lord and lead to trouble (sin).

James 3:13-18 (NLT)
True Wisdom Comes from God
“If you are wise and understand God’s ways, prove it by living an honorable life, doing good works with the humility that comes from wisdom.  But if you are bitterly jealous and there is selfish ambition in your heart, don’t cover up the truth with boasting and lying.  For jealousy and selfishness are not God’s kind of wisdom.  Such things are earthly, unspiritual, and demonic [emphasis mine].  For wherever there is jealousy and selfish ambition, there you will find disorder and evil of every kind.  But the wisdom from above is first of all pure.  It is also peace loving, gentle at all times, and willing to yield to others.  It is full of mercy and the fruit of good deeds.  It shows no favoritism and is always sincere.  And those who are peacemakers will plant seeds of peace and reap a harvest of righteousness.”

Praise Jesus forevermore!
