Sitting at home, I gazed out the window, my thoughts racing with doubt. Will God see me through this battle? Whenever things seem to be moving positively, something pulls me back. Doubt whispers you are right, you have prayed, and nothing changes. I breathe deeply, trying to shake it off, reminding myself out loud, But God is a good father. His Word says that after my suffering, He will restore me. Still, the question lingers: Why is it so hard to feel that truth right now?
Here comes doubt again, a relentless force. Restored? You will be stuck in this cycle forever; you are just fooling yourself.” Clenching my fist, I declare out loud No! I cannot give in to that! Faith is believing what I cannot see. I must hold on to the promises of God; there is nothing impossible for those who believe.
As I pause and reflect on God’s Word, I remember He says in Hebrews that He will never leave me or forsake me. Even in silence, He is working behind the scenes. In this ongoing battle, the enemy continues to sow seeds of doubt and unbelief. I remind myself to allow the Holy Spirit to speak to me. Yes, I may feel weak now, but He promises to make me strong. I am not fighting this battle alone. I will not give up!
Imagine stepping onto a battlefield, your heart vulnerable to every incoming blow. The air is thick with tension, and you’re surrounded by forces that want to pull you off course, to wound you, to cloud your judgment. This is the nature of the spiritual battle we face every day one way or another. This battle can come to us in a variety of ways. Through our thoughts and emotions or external pressures, giving the enemy authority to rob us of the victory we long for.
This battle begins the moment we accept Christ into our hearts. Initially, we experienced a window of grace, overwhelmed by God’s love and mercy, often unaware of the looming fight. Yet, we know that the enemy prowls like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour (1 Peter 5:8-10). Peter urges us to resist and stand firm in our faith. Faith is believing in what we cannot see, and trusting that nothing is too hard for God.
In these battles, we must remain vigilant. We must stay awake! We must watch! We are called to be ready, armed with faith and authority as believers. We do this knowing that the enemy must back off because the blood of Jesus is against him. Firm faith empowers us to shut the door to his schemes. It doesn’t guarantee that everything will go our way, but it does mean that trusting God we will not be shaken by our circumstances. We keep believing God is a consuming fire, refining us through the trials we face.
And then after your brief suffering, the God of all loving grace, who has called you to share in His eternal glory in Christ, will personally and powerfully restore you and make you stronger that ever. Yes, He will set you firmly and build you up. 1 Peter 5:10 TPT.
It is a reality we all face battles there are times when we are filled with doubt and uncertainty. Just like I experienced, it’s easy to question God’s goodness during times of uncertainty. However, it’s critical to remember that these doubts do not define us, they refine us. By securing ourselves in the truth of scripture and leaning on the Holy Spirit we can navigate these eternal battles.
