As FGGAM reported HERE yesterday (11/26/2024), a United States and France brokered ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah (in Lebanon) has been reached. The ceasefire became effective early this morning.
The Associated Press (“AP News”) is reporting today (11/27/2024) that thousands of Lebanese displaced by the war between Israel and Hezbollah militants are returning home, driving cars stacked with personal belongings and defying warnings from the Lebanese military and the Israel Defense Forces to stay away from certain areas.
Israel can claim major victories in the war, including the killing of Hezbollah’s top leader, Hassan Nasrallah, and most of its senior commanders. A complex attack involving exploding pagers and walkie-talkies, widely attributed to Israel, appeared to show a remarkable degree of penetration of the secretive militant group. The end result is that a battered Hezbollah has lost much of the mystique it acquired by fighting Israel to a stalemate in the 2006 war.
The current ceasefire agreement is based on UNSC Resolution 1701 (2006), which was the basis for concluding hostilities between Israel and Hezbollah terrorists in Lebanon in 2006. The resolution directed Hezbollah forces to move north of the Litani River, keeping the area exclusively under the control of the Lebanese military and up to 15,000 peacekeepers with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (“UNIFL”).

In a related matter, The Jewish Press is reporting that shortly before the ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hezbollah became effective early this morning, Israeli jets bombed a top-secret, mid-range rocket manufacturing factory located in Janta – a city situated about 46 miles east of Beirut. The strike reportedly disabled Hezbollah’s capacity to produce mid-range rockets in Lebanon.

My brothers and sisters, let’s pray for a lasting peace between Lebanon, Hezbollah and Israel, so that all those who live near the northern border of Israel and the southern border of Lebanon can enter into a long-lasting, genuine time of peace. Too many lives have been destroyed or maimed on both sides.
As Christians, we should not relent in praying for the Jewish people and the nation of Israel, which comprises the Holy Land where Jesus was born, lived, crucified, resurrected (defeating death and bringing eternal salvation) and is the very location where Jesus will gloriously return to earth to establish His reign and peace on the earth.
Whoever desires peace must seek Jesus! The Bible tells us that the government will rest upon the shoulder of the Prince of Peace.
Isaiah 9:6 (NKJV)
“For unto us a Child is born, [u]nto us a Son is given; [a]nd the government will be upon His shoulder [emphasis mine]. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”
I’ve said it many times before, but it is so very critical that we remember what the Bible has to say about the Jewish people and Israel.
Deuteronomy 7:6 (NKJV)
“For you [the Jews] are a holy people to the Lord your God; the Lord your God has chosen you to be a people for Himself [emphasis mine], a special treasure above all the peoples on the face of the earth.”
Zechariah 2:8 (Amplified Bible)
“For thus says the Lord of hosts, ‘[a]fter glory He has sent Me against the nations which plunder you—for he who touches you, touches the apple of His eye.’”
