Unspoken Rule

Ephesians 4:1-3 NKJV

[1] I, therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, [2] with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, [3] endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

There’s a “unspoken” rule of things to never talk about at the dinner table;

Money, politics or religion.

These have become forbidden topics to discuss. They are divisive, it causes debate. They bring in an emotional component to a conversation that will strike a person’s core and nerve.

But there is a problem with that.

It’s not a matter of speaking about these topics, it’s a matter of how the words are coming from your mouth.

We have been called to a duty.

We have a responsibility that nowadays seems like it’s an option rather than an obligation.

We have allowed so many things in this world to seep into our lives and even into our relationship with Jesus that affects our relationship with Him.

We have all stepped away, at least at some point, from living a life in a manner that is worthy to Almighty God’s call through Jesus Christ.

We are called to walk worthily!

We are called to humble ourselves before the Cross of Christ. We are called to Repent of the sins that have caused us to be separated from God. To have Christ, His Cross, His Blood and His Resurrection unit us back to the Father! All with the hope for the Glory of Heaven! Unity with the Lord in the places that He has gone to prepare!

Praise God for His Love, Grace and Mercy. Thank You Jesus for bearing all of our sins so we could be united with the Father.

But this is just the beginning of the relationship. If we want a deep, meaningful relationship there’s some things that God requires from us.

Have you ever wondered, is there more to it? What exactly does God expect from us as His children?

When we come to Jesus and repent and believe in Him,something changes. There’s a new heart, a new mind ,a new way of understanding and a new way of thinking. We now put on Christ. We start to love what He loves and despise what He despises.

We are the people of the Living God. Through the power of The Cross, the Shed Blood of Jesus Christ and His resurrection we become bound to Him,in all things.

Bound together!

The binding has been loosened.

We are supposed to take off the old man and put on the new. We leave behind our sins and shame. Before this we are called children of wrath! Children of wrath and deserving His Holy Justice to be handed to us. But God in His grace and mercy through His Son has redeemed us from the pit of Hell. And now we can call out to Him ABBA, Father.

So my question is this.

WHY IS THERE SO MUCH DISUNITY AMONG FOLLOWERS OF CHRIST!

We have allowed ourselves to be dictated by man rather than God.

Since so many have gone astray from the precious Holy Word of God, many have been led astray.

This causes disunity.

The Lord never intended for His children to be ununited.

No harmony. No oneness.

Jesus left us with His Holy Spirit!

He left us the Comforter!

It is through this same Holy Spirit that UNITED the Followers of Christ in that Upper Room!

Unity among God’s people through the power of the Holy Spirit comes from God!

But this unity is often destroyed by men and women that have strayed from the Teachings of the Lord.

We are a poor and desperate people without the unity of the Holy Spirit.

We are poor and desperate people when we are not hidden in the wounds of Christ.

We are poor and desperate people when the Blood of Christ and the Body of Christ has been replaced with the infiltration of this world.

We have looked to men to bring change into this world.

We have searched for policies written by men to change this world.

We see the corruption, the death of the unborn, the crime, hate and everything else the world has imposed on us because of our disunity as a Body of Believers.

I often think about ancient Israel when they wanted a King of flesh to rule over them like the rest of the world.

I Samuel 8:10-20 NKJV

[10] So Samuel told all the words of the Lord to the people who asked him for a king. [11] And he said, “This will be the behavior of the king who will reign over you: He will take your sons and appoint them for his own chariots and to be his horsemen, and some will run before his chariots. [12] He will appoint captains over his thousands and captains over his fifties, will set some to plow his ground and reap his harvest, and some to make his weapons of war and equipment for his chariots. [13] He will take your daughters to be perfumers, cooks, and bakers. [14] And he will take the best of your fields, your vineyards, and your olive groves, and give them to his servants. [15] He will take a tenth of your grain and your vintage, and give it to his officers and servants. [16] And he will take your male servants, your female servants, your finest young men, and your donkeys, and put them to his work. [17] He will take a tenth of your sheep. And you will be his servants. [18] And you will cry out in that day because of your king whom you have chosen for yourselves, and the Lord will not hear you in that day.” [19] Nevertheless the people refused to obey the voice of Samuel; and they said, “No, but we will have a king over us, [20] that we also may be like all the nations, and that our king may judge us and go out before us and fight our battles.”

This is where all of the disunity of God’s people starts.

Not much has changed.

We want men to fight our battles. We want man to stand in the gap for our desires and our livelihoods. We want man to give us the desires of our hearts.

We want man to make changes and policies to give us freedom and a peace that only lasts as long as we have breath!

What about Eternity?

What happend to coming together with a Choir of angels worshiping God as He sits on His Glorious Throne in the Glory of Heaven! Won’t we be united to Him then!

Why do we have to wait to come together until then?

I pray today that we humble ourselves before the Lord. That we ask Him to unit us to be one mind. To be of one heart.

One mission.

I pray that we give place for the Holy Spirit of God to unite us together as He united the people in the Upper room.

To bind us all in peace.

To bring us into humility to the Cross and to each other.

To be gentle, loving and kind to one another.

To bear with one another in love.

Ephesians 4:4-6 NKJV

[4] There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; [5] one Lord, one faith, one baptism; [6] one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.
