I have stated many times over my lifetime how much of love and appreciate firefighters. My grandpa Chris Moede was a firefighter in my hometown of Windom, Minnesota back in the very late 1800’s and early 1900’s. Grandpa was answering fire calls right up until he passed away from cancer. My daddy Wally joined the Windom department in the 50’s and eventually became Assistant Chief. I was a firefighter in Osceola, Indiana for a few years until I took another job in radio in Laporte, Indiana. Albuquerque residents need to be more thankful for the tremendous dedication of Albuquerque Firefighters!
Albuquerque Fire Rescue (AFR) is one of the busiest fire departments in the United States:
- 2023: AFR responded to 97,404 calls for service in 2023, ranking it among the busiest fire departments in the country.
- 2022: AFR was ranked 16th busiest in the Firehouse National Run Survey.
- 2019: AFR ranked 25th busiest in the country, with Engine 5 ranking 12th busiest in the nation
- I also want to include this Firemen’s prayer: Here
