Today, Fox News presents an article documenting an interview with Bing Crosby’s nephew, Howard Crosby, who described the humble, compassionate and talented man America knows and loves, Bing Crosby.
Howard once asked Bing about the single most difficult thing he did during his musical career. Without hesitation, Bing said that in December of 1944, he was in France with the USO to give an open-air concert to 15,000 U.S. GIs and British Tommies. At the end of the show, “I had to sing White Christmas. And, I had to get through the song with 15,000 guys in tears and not break up myself.”
Howard poignantly added, “and a lot of those boys died the next week in the Battle of the Bulge.”
Being incredibly humble and only months before his death, Bing Crosby told Barbara Walters in an interview that he didn’t think he’d leave a legacy. Walter’s response was “well, clearly, you realize you’re one of the greatest popular singers, certainly male vocalists, of all time.” “No, Barbara, no, no,” Crosby replied. “So many, so many singers [are] better than I am. You know, I think people will forget about me a few years after I’m gone. Nobody will remember anything I did.”

Praise God for men and women who, even with incredible giftings, realize that the world doesn’t revolve around them, and that being meek, humble, compassionate and willing to sacrifice for the good of others (i.e., Christ-like) is absolutely possible – and is the will of God.
Got Questions tells us that one of the primary purposes of the Holy Spirit in our lives is to change our hearts, conforming us to the image of Christ; making us more like Him.
The Bible tell us about the fruit of the Spirit, which should be evident and increasing in the lives of those who know Jesus as Savior!
Galatians 5:22-23 (NKJV)
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.”
