The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign is struggling to meet its fundraising goal in New Mexico

It has been a tough year in New Mexico with all the fires and floods. Please pray about giving to the Salivation Army. Sharon and I have, but we need to give more after reading this.

The Salvation Army’s Red Kettle Campaign, its largest annual fundraiser, is struggling to meet its fundraising target of $570,000 statewide with just a week remaining in the bell-ringing season.

Red Kettles collectively across New Mexico are at only 60 percent of that goal.

“The generous people of New Mexico have supported their neighbors this year during devastating flooding, the sizzling summer, the frigid fall, damaging wildfires, and any time there has been a need,” said Major Charles Fowler, Commander of The Salvation Army Southwest Division, which serves New Mexico, Arizona and Southern Nevada. “So, we believe New Mexicans will rally to help during the homestretch of the Red Kettle Campaign.”

The Red Kettle Campaign is in its 134th year and raises around 17 percent of the gifts to The Salvation Army in New Mexico for the entire year.

In addition to donating at a Red Kettle at local storefronts, people can donate by:

Donations stay in your local community and provide life-changing local social services and programs throughout the year, including food for the hungry, shelter and clothing for the homeless, rent and utilities assistance, disaster relief, respite from extreme weather conditions, senior activity and outreach, adult rehabilitation, opportunities for under-resourced children, holiday assistance, and emotional and spiritual support

“If you are unable to donate monetarily to the Red Kettle Campaign, you can always donate your time,” added Fowler. “Volunteering to ring the bell at a Red Kettle for just two hours can raise enough money to feed 30 people. That’s a small amount of time to give for such a large impact.”
