CHURCH LEADERS reports that Pastor Arturo Laguna of Casa de Adoracion (Church), Phoenix, Arizona, was arrested after a woman said that a camera fell out of a hand dryer in a church bathroom while she was changing her baby’s diaper.

Police arrested Pastor Laguna in November 2024 and he reportedly confessed to placing the camera in the restroom.

My brothers and sisters, how very sad and frustrating it is that this sort of thing continues to happen, even by clergy in the church!  This is not to say that pastors are super human and have never sinned, but there is, and rightly so, a huge amount of trust placed upon persons called to shepherd the children of God!

One thing I’ve become convinced of over the years is that Apostle Paul knew what he was talking about when he wrote about the dangers and temptations of sexual sin and perversion:

1 Thessalonians 4:2-4 (Amplified Bible)
“For you know what commandments and precepts we gave you by the authority of the Lord Jesus.  For this is the will of God, that you be sanctified [separated and set apart from sin]:  that you abstain and back away from sexual immorality; that each of you know how to control his own body in holiness and honor [being available for God’s purpose and separated from things profane]…”.

1 Corinthians 10:12 (Amplified Bible)
“Therefore let the one who thinks he stands firm [immune to temptation, being overconfident and self-righteous], take care that he does not fall [into sin and condemnation].”

In fact, the Bible tells us to flee sexual immorality, which is a sin against our own bodies:

1 Corinthians 6:18 (NKJV)
“Flee sexual immorality.  Every sin that a man does is outside the body, but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body.”

It is the will of God for mankind to be separated from sexual sin, but praise Jesus(!), He understands this temptation and promises to give us the strength and the way of escape:

1 Corinthians 10:13 (ESV)
“No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man.  God is faithful, and [H]e will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation [H]e will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.”

Please be sure to pray often for your pastors and church leadership.  Satan especially desires to destroy the men and women of God, as this weakens the church and can negatively impact the faith of those not yet solidly grounded in the faith.  Evil temptations (sexual or otherwise) are areas where Satan routinely attempts to knock men and women of God ‘off the rails.’

This is why so many scriptures in the Bible are dedicated to warning us about sexual sin.  The most beautiful and important things of life (e.g., marriage, procreation, and the gift of physical and emotional connection between married men and woman) are often targeted by the evil one.

We must never become so sure of ourselves as children of God that we cease to pray and/or believe that we could never succumb to sin.  Thank God for the cleansing blood of the Lamb!  No matter how influential one becomes in the kingdom of God, letting one’s spiritual guard down is a recipe for trouble.

Praise Jesus forevermore!
