REUTERS reports that Europeans are reeling from the Trump administration’s many moves regarding the war between Russian and Ukraine in recent days, even as the administration remains committed to the NATO transatlantic alliance that has been the bedrock of European security for 75 years.

On Wednesday (2/12/2025), U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth unilaterally declared at NATO headquarters that a peace deal would not include NATO membership and that it was unrealistic for Ukraine to return to its pre-2014 borders, when Russia annexed Crimea.

Trump’s recent actions have upended years of Western policy pursued by the Biden administration and European powers of trying to isolate Putin and insisting that peace talks should only begin when Ukraine was in a stronger position on the battlefield.

Many European leaders are now ‘playing catch-up’ despite much of this being telegraphed by President Trump during his presidential election campaign.

The REUTERS article may be read in its entirety HERE.

My brothers and sisters, the Trump administration’s approach to Ukraine’s plight by the evil forces of the Russian (and now the North Korean) military is extremely concerning.

It seems as if the alleged (if not apparent) corruption involving former President Biden and his family member(s) with Ukrainian business and governmental interests is somehow inseparable and now conflated by many with the evil attack against Ukraine by Russian President Vladimir Putin – which continues to this day and involves routine bombing of civilian targets, including apartment complexes.  It is absolutely possible for the two issues to exist simultaneously and wisdom would be to recognize this.

The fact that North Korean troops are fighting alongside Russian troops seems to have been lost on the Trump administration.

As I’ve reported before, and which bears repeating, Russia’s war against Ukraine, which started on February 24, 2022, continues to this day.  Russia mercilessly considers the loss of thousands of Ukrainian citizens, as well as Russian and Ukrainian (and now North Korean) troops and equipment, to be justified.

If you have read any of this writer’s articles regarding Ukraine, you know that I am a STRONG and unapologetic supporter of Ukraine and U.S. support for Ukraine in this unprovoked war of aggression by Russia.  For Russian President Vladimir Putin, this is a war of choice, not a ‘just’ war.

Russian citizens suffer under the leadership of President Vladimir Putin, a former Soviet KGB officer who seeks the destruction of Ukraine and the death of Ukraine’s elected president in an apparent effort to relive the ‘glory’ days of the former Soviet Union and the Cold War — placing all NATO-aligned nations at potential risk if left unchecked.

As followers of Christ, let’s continue to pray for Ukraine, and all of the surrounding nations, asking the Lord to change hearts and to bring a just and quick end to Russia’s evil attack against the free and sovereign nation of Ukraine and its people.  Let’s pray that Ukraine’s civilian and military leadership would make decisions in accord with the wisdom and the will of God.  Millions of lives, both Ukrainian and Russian, face untold human suffering and are at great risk.

As the Bible succinctly and profoundly states:

Psalm 34:14 (Amplified Bible)
“Turn away from evil and do good; [s]eek peace and pursue it.”

Isaiah 5:20 (NKJV)
“Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil; [w]ho put darkness for light, and light for darkness; [w]ho put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!”

Isaiah 55:8-9 (NKJV)
“‘For My thoughts are not your thoughts, [n]or are your ways My ways,’ says the Lord.  ‘For as the heavens are higher than the earth, [s]o are My ways higher than your ways, [a]nd My thoughts than your thoughts.’”

According to the Bible, justice should not be a ‘joy’ to the evildoers:

Proverbs 21:15 (ESV)
“When justice is done, it is a joy to the righteous but terror to evildoers.”

Praise Jesus forevermore!
