Reflection and Inspiration
Recently, I had a heartfelt conversation with a dear Pastor friend of mine. We discussed the essence of building bridges of love and trust with people, a mission we passionately pursue at FGGAM. Our endeavor is to connect with the world through love and trust, embodying the spirit of the Great Commission.
In the past three years, Sharon and I have journeyed through New Mexico, Arizona, California, Colorado, Wyoming, Montana, South Dakota, and my home state of Minnesota. We share the light of Jesus Christ with the world, one person at a time. It is essential to remember that the Great Commission is a command from our Lord, urging us to spread His teachings and love.
During the conversation with my Pastor friend, I shared my hurt regarding a recent situation where I tried to bring peace between two individuals. Being a peacemaker often requires calling out bad behavior, which is never an easy task. My friend and I discussed the challenges of building love and trust with people, only to sometimes face betrayal.
Our discussion then shifted to the Beatitudes. The Beatitudes are a set of teachings delivered by Jesus during the Sermon on The Mount in the Gospel of Matthew 5:3-12. Revisiting them, I was reminded of my purpose in serving our Lord. The Beatitudes teach us to be pure of heart, to mourn with those who have experienced tragedy, and to be peacemakers in our communities. I often conduct funerals for people who do not have a church for various reasons. Being a peacemaker for our Lord means sharing His love in everyday places like the grocery store, post office, and bank.
Never be bashful about sharing Jesus. People need to see Jesus in you. Barna research shows that only 4% of Americans have a Biblical worldview. It is our duty to reflect Jesus in everything we do and say. Please, do not be quiet about Jesus. Let His love and teachings shine through you in all aspects of your life.
When was the last time you read the Beatitudes?
- Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
- Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.
- Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.
- Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.
- Blessed are the merciful, for they shall find mercy.
- Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.
- Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.
- Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
The Beatitudes are an important part of Jesus’ teachings that help shape character, morality, and understanding of God and the world.
