If I had cherished sin in my heart, the Lord would not have listened.
Psalm 66:18
We are all very well aware that God is the forgiver of our sins.
This is a large part of the gospel message.
However, sometimes we forget that cherishing our sin, and liking it or holding on to it, will lead to destruction.
Because if we intentionally harbor this sin in our heart, our prayers will not be heard.
We must approach God with a pure heart. 💜
I’m not talking about accidentally falling into sin, but rather about choosing to live in a way that is contrary to God’s holy Word.
I believe that sometimes God abandons us to the consequences of our own actions that we are unwilling to change.
But, If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
If we’re still holding on and cherishing sin, we must question what we actually believe.
The last thing we want is ineffective prayers.
Remember what scripture also says;
Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.
James 5:16
Whoever conceals their sins does not prosper, but the one who confesses and renounces them finds mercy.
Proverbs 28:13
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 1:9
Repentance restores our relationship with God.
Then, and only then, can we approach the throne of grace with confidence!
