It is with great sorrow that I come to you today to share the passing of Sonja ‘Sweigard’ Haldedman. Sonja is 1974 Windom High School graduate. She fought the battle of cancer with grace. She never lost her smile and love and care for all.
I grew up with Sonja and we lived in the same neighborhood. Years ago, we reconnected on Facebook. Last spring, Sharon and I went to visit her and her hubby, Steve, at their Arizona home. Sonja never lost her smile and love for all. What I take from Dear Sonja’s life is, LOVE and great care for all. The love of Jesus.
Memorial services are being planned. I am so very, very, blessed by the family to officiate the celebration of life for dear Sonja. I will keep you posted.
Please keep the family in your prayers. Let us all honor the life of Sonja, by smiling more, even when you may be in pain, and let us all love each other more and more. What a legacy Sonja has made.
A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples,
if you have love for one another (John 13:34-35).
A Poem Dedicated in Memory of My Dear Freind Sonja ‘Sweigard’ Haldeman
I saw Sonja at Jack Slade’s Steakhouse in Windom last Summer celebrating her dad’s birthday I believe it was. I was so tickled to have had the chance to visit with her AND her big SMILE lit up the entire dining room. My heart breaks hearing this news as I prayed her cancer could somehow be kept under control. But our Lord needed this beautiful gift in Heaven more so I rejoice that Sonja is at peace, without pain, and a cancer free life again that makes a eternal smile bigger and brighter than ever before 💟🙏🏻✝️🌹
