“Don’t have anything to do with foolish and stupid arguments, because you know they produce quarrels. And the Lord’s servant must not be quarrelsome but must be kind to everyone, able to teach, not resentful.”

2 Timothy 2:23-24

This is very hard to adhere to for some and especially nowadays.

I’m appalled at the rage, anger, name calling and hate I’ve seen in recent months. Although this is an ongoing issue and will be until Messiah returns, it seems to be out of control.

Today I’m speaking to believers in Jesus Christ.

Our main focus should be to love the hard to love, pray for one another and seek God on all matters, great and small.

I will say this, politics brings out the worst in everyone. It’s especially disturbing when believers in Jesus Christ go after each other, It’s disheartening to see.

I can only imagine what the world sees when they look at us.

Either side, it doesn’t matter, both have followers that are so angry, hateful, and cruel. This is not at all how we should be acting.

John 13:34 says it best;

A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.

– For if you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you, but if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Matthew 6:14-15

I’ve heard people angry and arguing on one specific side or another and this comes, at times, from only knowing partial details. As Christians, this should not be so.

That’s a half-lie, half truth or exaggeration and it’s causing chaos, and in their anger, they may potentially sin.

James 3:10 -From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brothers, these things ought not to be so.

I’m not saying we can’t debate a subject or that we can’t have an opinion one way or the other. In fact, having an opinion, shows you care.

But when it comes to anger and hate, that’s where we should draw the line.

If it’s causing us to hate a human being or causing us to be so angry that it’s all we think about or if We are so consumed With what the other person is doing, then it’s time to take a step back and go to God.

Ask him for forgiveness if you’ve caused people to stumble or if you have stumbled yourself.

“In your anger do not sin’: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry.”

Ephesians 4:26

I think we’ve all fallen into that trap where we get caught up in current events and that’s OK to check things out and do our research.

It’s good to pray about things and ask God where we can help. But mainly, I’m talking about the anger that comes from it or fighting and arguing. Those things should not exist in our lives.

In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

Matthew 5:16

So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.

James 4:17

And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

Colossians 3:17

We can disagree with others politically, but still stay united around our belief in Christ, this sets an example of love to the world around us.

Pray, pray, pray….

Let your light shine before men!

Many blessings,

Connie
