Fox News reports that yesterday (3/26/2025), Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy told Eurovision News that Russian President Vladimir Putin will die soon due to deteriorating health.
Zelenskyy also called on the United States to refrain from bringing Russia back ‘from the global political wilderness’ amid ongoing peace talks aimed at ending Russia’s war against Ukraine, stating emphatically that “[Putin] will die soon. That is a fact and everything will be over.”

The Kyiv Independent reports that Zelenskyy told Eurovision News, on the heels of a U.S.-brokered, partial ceasefire regarding energy infrastructure and attacks in the Black Sea, that “[i]t is very important that America does not help Putin to get out of this global isolation now.”
Zelenskyy added that Putin’s ambitions are not limited to Ukraine, but could lead to a direct confrontation with the West, asserting that it is Putin’s intent to divide the European-American alliance.

My brothers and sisters, this is not the first time that Zelenskyy has warned or hinted that Putin’s death was likely or imminent due to health concerns (e.g., cancer, strokes); however, the truth of the matter is that given the nature of mainstream news reporting, political spin, and the potential for wartime tactical deception and/or the intentional use of misinformation against an enemy, it would be very unwise to presume Putin was gravely ill without some corroborating evidence.
That said, it will be very interesting to see: 1) if Zelenskyy has credible intelligence which bears out to be true in the relative near future; and 2) if U.S. President Donald J. Trump reacts to Zelenskyy’s request for the United States to ‘slow its roll’ on restoring economic normalcy with Russia with quiet diplomacy or if he goes public with insensitive comments.
Regardless, there are a couple things from scripture which speak loudly to this writer at the moment.
Let’s be sure to pray for our (U.S.) leaders, Ukraine’s leaders, EU and NATO leaders, and Russian leaders, including Putin, asking that they would seek the wisdom of God, and not rely on their own hearts and the wisdom of the world – as possibly, just possibly, Russia’s war against Ukraine may be starting to draw to a close.
1 Timothy 2:1-3 (ESV)
“First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior…”.
And, let’s remember that it is not necessarily the loudest voice in the room which is speaking the truth and bringing wisdom.
Proverbs 28:26 (NKJV)
“He who trusts in his own heart is a fool, [b]ut whoever walks wisely will be delivered.”
Proverbs 29:9 and 11 (NKJV)
“If a wise man contends with a foolish man, [w]hether the fool rages or laughs, there is no peace. A fool vents all his feelings, [b]ut a wise man holds them back.”
Ecclesiastes 9:16-18 (NKJV)
“Then I said: ‘[w]isdom is better than strength. Nevertheless the poor man’s wisdom is despised, [a]nd his words are not heard. Words of the wise, spoken quietly, should be heard [r]ather than the shout of a ruler of fools [emphasis mine]. Wisdom is better than weapons of war; [b]ut one sinner destroys much good.’”
