Fox News reports that West Springfield High School in Fairfax County, Virginia, as part of a history project, to allow its students to decorate the history hallway with a polarizing alphabetic display for Women’s History Month, beginning with “A is for Abortion” and including “N is for NOW” – which highlights the National Organization for Women (“NOW”), a progressive women’s advocacy group.
Stephanie Lundquist-Arora, a chapter leader for the conservative Independent Women’s Network and the mother of a male high school student, took photographs of the display, including the following, showing the posted drawing asserting that “T is for Trans Women.”

My brothers and sisters, as Stephanie Lundquist-Arora told Fox News, the high school’s “ABCs to Me” display is what happens at the intersection of politicized teaching and biased school district leadership – students are being used to amplify teachers’ and administrators’ political messages.
Most students in the United States today likely have considerably more face-to-face time with their teachers than with their own parents on a typical workweek day. Biased and repeated declarations and information presented as educational training by school employees is presumed by the students to be truthful and important – it’s presented by their teachers after all! I mean, who can really blame them?
It’s uncomfortable to admit, but youngsters (for decades and decades at the minimum) have grown up being told to trust their teachers and that education is critical, which in most countries means public education for most students. This is why it’s so very important that those who are blessed with the talent, and are called by God to teach and mentor our children, DO SO! There is no substitute for teachers and parents who love God and seek the wisdom of God first – not the wisdom of the world.
A school or school district which refuses to listen to the students’ parents and continues, even when presented with clear evidence of non-Biblical (or perhaps better put, ‘anti-Biblical’) teaching material, is one that parents either need to leave or requires strong efforts, made in love and based in wisdom, to get the teachers and administrators attention. Otherwise, the best choice, whenever feasible, is to move the students to a different school district, to a private school, or to choose homeschooling.
It is ultimately the parents’ responsibility (not the schools’ responsibility) to train up their children. It is the parents who will answer to God, so there should be no fear in seeking the best possible education for our children.
I have great compassion for single parents and those who genuinely are having a hard time making it, so church(!), let’s not let this issue become, as some say it has, an issue of the ‘haves and the have nots’. Let’s be sure to reach out to those who may need some assistance or involvement with homeschooling parent groups – which right here in New Mexico have helped many students attain first-class educations. Too many students are passed from grade-to-grade in the public school systems (‘social promotion’) without attaining the necessary skills for the next grade level, or worse yet, drop out of school without graduating.
It is the view of this writer that all of the foregoing issues would significantly improve if school leadership and more classroom teachers would respect the views of Christian parents and, just as importantly, reject the oft-held philosophical view that when a person takes a job with the local, state or federal government, that the person must leave his or her faith at the door because of the supposed ‘separation of church and state’.
Good Lord! The world needs more Christian men and women in civil government positions (including teachers) BECAUSE of the love, godly wisdom and judgment that follows!
The Bible tells us we are to train our children to seek God’s wisdom and His will:
Proverbs 22:6 (Amplified Bible)
“Train up a child in the way he should go [teaching him to seek God’s wisdom and will for his abilities and talents], [e]ven when he is old he will not depart from it.”
The Bible also tells us that we are to bring up our children in the training and admonition of the Lord:
Ephesians 6:1-4 (NKJV)
Children and Parents
“Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. ‘Honor your father and mother,’ which is the first commandment with promise: ‘that it may be well with you and you may live long on the earth.’ And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord [emphasis mine].”
