KOAT 7 Action News (Albuquerque, NM) reports that Bernalillo County District Attorney Sam Bregman has formally announced his candidacy to be the Democratic nominee for governor.
Bregman has been an attorney in New Mexico for decades and was appointed Bernalillo County District Attorney in 2023 by Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham. He joins former U.S. Secretary of the Interior, Deb Haaland, as Democratic nominees for governor during the upcoming primary election in June 2026.
