Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds.

James 1:2

This is extremely hard to do sometimes. But I believe that pure joy, during trials and tribulations, is not attainable by our own strength, but by God’s strength alone.

Trials will test and strengthen our faith, much like gold is refined through fire. We are refined through trials.

We know this because as we go through different trials in our lives, we tend to grow up some. We mature, and sometimes things seem easier.

For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.

2 Corinthians 4:17

And as in the opening scripture, we’re to consider it pure joy when we face trials, because; you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.

James 1:3-5

There is a certain kind of maturity that can be attained only through the discipline of suffering.

D. A. Carson

So, next time you’re facing trials of many kinds, remember that God may be working something specific out for you.

Finding joy in the midst of troubles means seeking God and clinging to him wholeheartedly!

Many Blessings,

Connie
