I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were either cold or hot! So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.”

Revelation 3:15-16

Luke warm Christianity, before we know it, we are on the fence and indecisive.

Fence sitting is a waste of time, nothing good ever comes of it.

Fence sitting has you going back and forth between Jesus and the world.

“You adulterous people, don’t you know that friendship with the world means enmity against God? Therefore, anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world becomes an enemy of God.”

James 4:4

The fence is not a very comfortable place to sit and it can get lonely there.

You procrastinate there, and frankly, we have no time to waste!

The fence is a place where nothing gets done. So, why do we sit there?

I believe that one of the reasons we do this is because first of all, we love the things of the world, the nightlife, the party time, going to the bar, getting drunk, the things the world has to offer.

It’s made to look like so much fun and we feel like we’re missing out if we’re not partaking in this adventure, because again, the world makes it look like so much fun.

The next reason, some people may not care about sitting on the fence and not choosing a side. Well frankly, it’s because they actually don’t believe what God says. They have no fear of the Lord. So whatever they do, it doesn’t matter to them.

But, the minute we (I say we, because we’ve all done this) have a problem, calamity, disaster or whatever it may be, then we call on the Lord.

I’ve heard it said before that we use God as ‘fire insurance.’ We don’t want to go to hell, but we don’t want to live our life for him completely, either.

In essence, we don’t want to give up the sin we hold so dear. And that sin is different for everybody, but sin cannot be allowed in heaven. So hanging on to that sin will be eternally disastrous.

That’s what I call fence sitting.

The opening scripture should be enough to scare us off of that fence. God said to choose one or the other or he will “spit us out of his mouth.” That’s drastic!

I know, we often say; “I’m an adult” or “it’s my own life” or “I’m gonna do me” or “I’ll pick a side later” or “I still have time to choose him, later.”

But folks, we’re running out of time!

You see, while you’re free to make your own choices, you do not get to choose the consequences of those choices.

Bad or undecided choices mess up your destiny and you may leave a legacy that your children need to recover from.

James 4:17 says: “Remember, it is sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it.”

Joshua 24:15 says,  “Choose ye this day for yourself whom you will serve, but as for me and my house, we will serve the lord.”

Today, is the day we choose God because tomorrow is not promised.

Today is the day we hop off that fence and we sincerely follow Christ, with everything we have.

“I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.”

2 Corinthians 6:2

There is no chance in eternity to change your destiny. No one will force you off that fence, but there will be a consequence.

He loves us and he’s waiting for us.

Many blessings,

Connie
