RawStory reports that Satanic Grotto President Michael Stewart, with supporters and reporters in tow, entered the Topeka, Kansas Statehouse on Friday (3/28/2025) to conduct a so-called ‘Black Mass’. Stewart had been warned that any formal protest inside the capitol building would violate the permit limiting his religious expression to the lawn or steps of the building, and would result in his arrest for trespassing.
Despite this, Stewart eventually moved into the capitol building and began the Black Mass in the rotunda. The event was subsequently interrupted by counter-protester Marcus Schroeder, who attempted to take papers from Stewart’s hand. In response, Stewart punched Schroeder in the face and was arrested on-the-spot by Capitol Police officers.

The Associated Press (“AP News”) reported that roughly 30 members of the Kansas City-area Satanic Grotto, led by Michael Stewart, rallied outside the Statehouse, protesting for the ‘separation of church and state’ and the supposed favoritism toward Christians by the State of Kansas for allowing other events inside the Capitol.
The Satanic Grotto’s outside rally drew hundreds of Christian counter-protesters because of satanic imagery, and its indoor ‘Black Mass’ denounced Jesus Christ.

My brothers and sisters, FGGAM does not condone violence in response to theological differences and satanic events, as the correct response is prayer, evangelism, exhortation, teaching, preaching, worship and acts of goodness resulting from our Christian faith!
That said, it is exceedingly clear that the views of the Satanic Grotto and Michael Stewart (and his followers) are evil and it is best that such satanist events not be given a ‘front and center’ inside any state’s capitol building or chambers.
This is not because, as Christians, we are ‘afraid’ of satanists or the devil, as the battle has already been won by Jesus at the cross and empty tomb, but why allow what might appear to be a state-sponsored event with the purpose of leading persons AWAY from Christ and toward perdition to happen if it can be avoided?
The issue goes beyond ‘fairness’ because satanists want to pull away the souls of those who haven’t been saved and named Jesus as Lord. I wouldn’t want my worst enemy to have to suffer eternal separation from God in hell. The Satanic Grotto exists to promote exactly this.
Let’s never forget what the Bible has to say about Satan:
John 10:10 (NKJV)
“The thief [the devil or Satan] does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I [Jesus] have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”
And, let’s also never forget what the Bible has to say about Jesus, and how He is the only way unto the Father (salvation):
John 14:6 (NKJV)
“Jesus said to [Thomas], ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.’”
In other words, if our faith is not rooted in Jesus as our Lord and Savior, then we aren’t really Christians at all – and our ultimate destination is not heaven!
Pray for those who need salvation! Many even in our own families may be in need of the saving grace of Jesus. Praise God that we are saved by grace through faith, by the blood of the Lamb (Jesus)!
