The healthcare system in New Mexico is already under water. How will cuts in federal funding make it any better? New Mexico already is losing doctors and nurses to other states. These cuts make New Mexico even more unattractive to medical personal. Many folks I here from are traveling to Denver or Phoenix for healthcare. BUT! TRAGICALLY the state is near the top in abortions! The state kills God’s babies.
‘Think New Mexico’: Many New Mexicans struggle to access health care due to a growing shortage of doctors, nurses, and other health care professionals in the state. The number of primary care physicians in New Mexico fell by 30% from 2017-2021 and the numbers of ob-gyns, registered nurses, dentists, psychiatrists, pharmacists, and EMTs have also declined sharply in recent years. KOAT TV Reports: Federal funding cuts under the Trump administration are affecting UNM Hospital. Fifty-three jobs have been cut.
According to the Journal, a communication director for the hospital system, Chris Ramirez, states that UNMH, which also receives funding from state and local government, has been burdened by the same financial troubles that all hospitals have faced following the onset of COVID-19 pandemic.
