When God feels distant

As Christians, we go through many hard seasons in life. This is common.

Sometimes, we can go through season of Feeling distant from God. A spiritual dryness of sorts. And speaking from personal experience, this particular season can last a very long time!

There can be several reasons for feeling like this.

The first and most obvious reason is that we are in sin, because we know that sin separates us from God, but there’s also this reason;

‘We’re expecting to have a spiritual encounter, constantly.’

What I mean is, we may get the idea that we have to have a word from God, or a message from God with an encounter, on a daily basis.

And if we don’t, we somehow believe God’s being silent with us, ignoring us or has left us.

“And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love.

No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Romans 8:38-39

“Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there.

If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea.”

Psalm 139:7-9

Just because God feels distant, does not mean He’s absent. When you don’t feel God’s presence, rely on His character.

When God seems absent from us, He is often doing His most important work in us. Wait on Him… Sometimes it takes awhile.

Remember, Our timing isn’t God’s timing. For us, God’s timing often feels like a long, desperate delay.

Don’t depart from His word!

“Lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world.” -God

Matthew 28:20

Many Blessings,
