May rains have busted the severe drought in New Mexico, a year ago 88 percent of the state was in severe drought, now just 13 percent of the state fits into that category. In Texas storms dumped almost another foot of rain within a six-hour period on the Houston area, stranding hundreds of motorists and inundating the famously congested highways that serve the fourth-largest U.S. city.
