I Pledge Allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
The 4th of July, first known as, Independence Day, commemorates the signing of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. The most important national, secular holiday celebrated in the United States is Independence Day. True Americans on this day celebrate and honor all that is American, remembering the great sacrifices of our ancestors as they fought and won our independence from Great Britain.
In July of 1776, approximately 2.5 million people were living in this new nation, striving for liberty. A gift from France in 1886, the Statue of Liberty stands in New York Harbor as a great symbol of our American freedom.
Americans have long fought for, and held on to, this prized life of liberty and freedom. Former President John F. Kennedy once said: “Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, to assure the survival and the success of liberty.”
Oh Beloved America, I fear we are losing the heart and the power of those words; it is as if we have a veil placed over our eyes of heart. However, when we regain the heart, the power of the promise within those words will come alive again.
There are greater words of power:
“Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the veil shall be taken away. Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty” (2 Corinthians 3:16-17 KJV).
Also:
“For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another” (Galatians 5:13 KJV).
Beloved, this liberty, freedom, justice we seek comes only through Jesus Christ, the Son of God:
“If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed” (John 8:36 KJV).
This Independence Day, why not declare your independence from the world and sin, and place it upon the LORD thy God? He will finally set you free, indeed!
