Israel’s Options on Iran!
As high-level diplomatic talks between the P5+1 nations and Iran continued to drag out over recent weeks, Israeli leaders were keeping an eye on the negotiations in Vienna and weighing its potential impact on the region. With Iranian officials making almost daily threats to destroy the Jewish state, no country has more reason to be worried about a bad deal with Tehran than Israel. With the outcome of the talks now before us, Jerusalem is still facing several possible scenarios, each one fraught with perils. A good deal would have still left Israel facing threats from Iranian proxy militias on all sides. A bad deal means Israel would have less support from the international community in confronting the Iranian nuclear threat. And no deal at all would have left Iran free to continue its drive for nuclear armaments. So what were Israel’s biggest concerns in the various possible outcomes of the Iranian nuclear talks? How should Israel now respond? What were other countries in the region doing to prepare for an Iran deal? And how will the US be able to keep its security commitments to Israel and other regional allies given its new deal with Iran? Israel’s Options on Iran! That’s our focus this week here on Front Page Jerusalem. We’ll hear from a leading Israeli security analyst on what Jerusalem has been doing to prepare for the different potential outcomes of the Iranian nuclear talks. Gen. Amos Yadlin is a former head of Israeli military intelligence and today serves as director of the prestigious Institute for National Security Studies. He gave a recent briefing on the threat posed by Iran’s renegade nuclear program, and we’ll have a report based on his analysis.

The Rift in US-Israel Relations!
Israel’s former ambassador to Washington, Dr. Michael Oren, recently released a book entitled “Ally” in which he accuses the Obama administration of deliberately trying to sour the relations between Israel and the United States. In his behind-the-scenes account, Oren charges that President Barack Obama has broken two unwritten rules in the historic relationship – there should be no surprises and no airing of disputes in public. He also insists the Obama White House has been pressuring Israel into accepting two huge risks at once – a Palestinian state and Iran as a nuclear power. Now everyone already knew that Obama and Israeli leader Benjamin Netanyahu were not getting along so well. But this inside account by Michael Oren clearly lays the blame on Obama for deliberately tanking the relationship and embarrassing Netanyahu in public. And with 18 months still left in the Obama presidency, we will likely see the tensions between Washington and Jerusalem continue to worsen. Meanwhile, the American Jewish community and certain Democrats in Congress could play crucial roles in trying to salvage things until then. So just how bad is the relationship between President Obama and the Israeli prime minister? Is this the first time an American administration and an Israeli government have disagreed so adamantly in public? What role has the American Jewish community historically played in the US-Israel relationship? Why are most American Jews still so loyal to a Democratic president who is leaning so heavily on Israel? And what impact will Obama’s poor record on Israel play in the upcoming American presidential elections? The Rift  in US-Israel Relations! That’s our focus next week here on Front Page Jerusalem. We’ll hear from a leading Israeli political analyst on what’s gone wrong in US-Israel relations and how it can be fixed. Ourguest will be Elliot Jager, an Israeli journalist and author who has just published an insightful book on the central role American Jews have played in the US-Israel relationship over recent decades. His E- book entitled “Leverage” is a timely expose’ on how US presidents often find a way to enlist American Jewish leaders into opposing Israeli governments and their policies.
