Israeli media reports Thursday said officials in the government are placing a large part of the blame for recent rioting in Jerusalem on Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who has openly given shelter to Hamas leader Saleh al-Arouri who has been leading a campaign against Israel from the safety of Turkish soil. According to the reports, al-Aroui is not only inciting against Israel via various media and online outlets, he is wiring large amounts of money from Turkey to terror operatives in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, all with the knowledge and assent of Turkish authorities. Turkish officials have denied the claims, however, Erdogan has publicly condemned Israel and given other rhetorical support for the rioting in Jerusalem, as have the governments of Jordan, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
