Paris police credit Israeli tactics for success
In an interview with the French-language daily Le Figaro this week, Jean-Michel Fauvergue, the commander of the RAID special police forces unit which carried out the raid on the suspected hideout of terrorists involved in the recent terrorist attack in Paris that his forces owed much to lessons learned and passed on from their Israeli counterparts. The raid, which culminated in a heavy exchange of fire between police and the suspects, led to the deaths of two suspects and the arrest of five others. Meanwhile, French Prime Minister Manuel Valls told the French National Assembly on Wednesday that Paris is seeking to form an international coalition to battle the Islamic State (IS) terror militia. “Terrorism has struck countries in the region; Israel, of course, but also other countries in the Middle East,” he said. “The first victims of terrorism are the Muslims themselves. Therefore, we have to fight terrorism in the name of universal values.”Read More
