As I am spending a few days in, a little under the weather, I can’t help but think how fast time flies by. I just felt impressed today to repost this writing from 3 years ago.
I was driving to work a few towns away on Friday of last week. I began to reminisce about the play I took my grandson Mason to see at Presque Isle High School, as I made my way for the one hour commute. We were wowed at an outstanding performance of Willy Wonka. I still can hear the young man as he played the part of Charlie Bucket and sang the song Think Positive. Mason being four has a lot to learn in life and it’s my prayer he will learn early ways that will make life fulfilling for him. Life has many bumps in the road, trials, tragedies, disappointments, but the journey must go on. It brings to mind the scripture in Philippians 4 verse 8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.
It’s amazing how a bad memory, a poor choice or the world around us and all the negative reports we hear each day impacts us. Although it happened, it hurt, and the world seems to be growing darker, it doesn’t change the word of the Lord. People are losing hope today and as Christians we are to bring that hope. Romans 15 verse 13 a favorite scripture: Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Declare today that no matter the negative influences that bombard your life, you will fill your bucket with good thoughts, good reports and look for the positive. Today, declare you will speak good things and your words will bring hope that will encourage another. Declare today is going to be a good day. Don’t forget to pass it on as well. Look for someone to bless, edify, build up and encourage. Make today a good day for someone else and watch how your day unfolds. It’s a good day already.
Prayer: Lord, I pray for every reader today. I declare that no matter what the circumstances are your Word triumphs it. No matter the loss, no matter the disappointments, you are their hope. Today fill each reader with a fresh wind of hope. May you send someone to encourage them, to lift their spirits and bless them. May you send them to do the same for someone else. Today oh God, I declare over your people it’s a Good Day!
