We All Seem in a Hurry to Our Funeral

dewey cupI am not the greatest photographer on God’s green earth….but I try…I am going to try to share with you my emotions as I took this picture from Sunset Memorial Park in Albuquerque yesterday.

I was driving out of the cemetery yesterday after attending the graveside service for Samuel Ortiz who died suddenly this week at the young age of 38. Sharon and Samuel’s wife, Grace, work together at UNM Hospital. Sharon could not come as she was filling in for Grace at work.

Our prayers and love go out to Grace and her family as they mourn the death of Samuel. A sudden passing is a shock, a shock that I cannot put into words, just 38 years young.

So many thoughts go through my mind at a funeral.

Right next to the cemetery is the freeway……..cars and trucks passing by so fast…..as life goes by.

People in a hurry.

We all seem to be in a hurry to our own funeral.

The world is just plain out of control……full of darkness and evil, you cannot hide from it, even though many Christians try, they do not want to face the darkness or speak out against it. Proclaiming it is none of their concern.

When I walk the cemetery and see all the headstones of people I always read them….I wonder about their lives….I wonder what mine will say…..what people will say about me when I die.

I do my best everyday, I would like to be remembered as a man that knew everyday as Sunday, everyday is the Lord’s day.

They tell me now that the NFL “owns” Sundays in America.

The experts tell me that most American homes no longer have a Bible in them.

These same experts tell me that most Americans no longer belong to a Church.

The majority of America has lost God as it’s moral compass, it seems most people now have their own moral compass, what ever appears to feel good to them.

As the world continues to spin out of control………the Lord had me meet Amy.

Amy is the one that is off to the left of the red car, her car.

She came into the cemetery to visit the graves of her Grandpa and Grandma and her Nephew. She came to show her respect. I do not know if this new world we live in even knows the meaning of that term anymore.

The Lord told me to go up and talk with Amy.

We had a wonderful conversation about heritage and families, and her love for her family.

It was so very heart warming for me to run into someone who took time during their lunch break to drive to the cemetery and show their respect for their loved ones.

Whenever I get to go back home to Windom, Minnesota I visit the graves of my Mom and Dad and other family members. It brings back vivid memories on family love. Godly love.

That is why I do what I do……to show Godly love and concern for all everyday…..everyday belongs to the Lord.

For me, everyday is the Lord’s Day…..I know nothing else.

I want you to know Jesus…..and His Ways and His Words….please contact me if you want to know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.

I want you to know what Jesus has planned for you!

You will not know His plan unless you have Him in your heart.

It will be a sad day, if you die, not knowing what Jesus had planned for you.

Thank you for allowing me to share a bit of my testimony with you today. Dewey life verse
