Pearce Statement on Congressional Override of Obama’s Veto
Washington, DC (September 28, 2016) – Congressman Steve Pearce issued the following statement after both the House and Senate voted to override President Obama’s veto:
“Congress just overwhelmingly rejected President Obama’s veto. This vote proves the voice of the people is alive and well. Since the release of the Saudi Pages earlier this summer, the American people have demanded Congress provide those impacted by the September 11th attacks their day in court. The President does not have totalitarian rule. Today was a clear message that Congress will use its Check and Balance authority to respond to the will of the people,” said Congressman Pearce.
The veto override passed the House by 348-77 and the Senate by 97-1.
