Let us turn our Bibles to Eccl. 11:6. You probably have heard the old sayings, “The early bird gets the worm” and “Sharp as a tack.” Have you ever considered that both describe a character trait that the Bible says is vital to any successful life? That character trait is diligence, frequently contrasted in the Bible with laziness and procrastination. The Hebrew language uses two word pictures to illustrate diligence: “dawn” and “knife”
