                                                                                               February 1, 2018
Dear Friends,
Thank you to everyone who contacted Rep. Eliseo Alcon regarding Parental Notification.
Parent Notification of Abortion Bill
will be heard
Saturday, February 3, 2018, at 9:00 a.m.
New Mexico State Capitol House Chambers
(490 Old Santa Fe Trail)
HB 56  Parental Notification of an Abortion (Sponsors Rep. David Gallegos R- Eunice, Rep. Rick Little R-Chaparral Rep. Rod Montoya) simply requires notification of a parent when an abortion is to be performed on an underage child.
The reason this bill is important:  No other medical procedure is allowed without parental involvement.  The absence of the law allows the exploitation of children who have necessarily suffered sexual abuse.   Thirty-seven states have enacted similar bills.
Please call the HOUSE CONSUMER & PUBLIC AFFAIRS COMMITTEE members who have stood in opposition and urge them to vote YES on
HB 56 Parental Notification of an Abortion.
Rep. Eliseo Lee Alcon (D-Milan) Chair  (505) 986-4425
Rep. Patricia Roybal Caballero (D-Albuquerque) Vice Chair  (505) 986-4248
Rep. Deborah A. Armstong (D-Albuquerque)  (505) 986-4840
Please join us on Saturday in the House Chambers.

Your phone call, your attendance and your prayers all count.  Thank you for being part of New Mexico that cares for its children.
In prayer,
Jose Vasquez
New Mexico Watchman

Parental Notification Needed for Aspirin, Not Abortion
Download our fact sheet here.
Did you know across New Mexico, teen girls can be taken off school property by an adult male and have an abortion, without any parental involvement or notification?
  • Parental consent is needed for an aspirin, but not an abortion.
  • If someone wanted to take your daughter in for an abortion, wouldn’t you want to know?
  • A child age 13 or 14 years old should not be expected to manage her own healthcare while undergoing a life changing invasive, medical procedure,
  • Parental involvement provides vital information to avert medical risks that will affect their child’s health, safety and emotional well-being.
  • 60-80% of pregnant minors 15 and under are impregnated by adult males
  • 37 states protect girls and require notification of a parent before a girl has an abortion.
  • The abortion industry has been caught actively concealing statutory rape and sex trafficking of minors from parents and authorities.
“We are behind 37 states in parental rights as far as protection of our sons and our daughters,” said HB 56 sponsor Rep. Rick Little. “I have two daughters and there is no way you can say you want your daughter to get an abortion without your knowledge. That is absolutely unreasonable and absurd. We need to catch up with reality as far as the family and parental rights–when our daughters can’t take an aspirin or go on a school trip, but the perpetrator can take them down to get an abortion without the parent knowing.”
“On top of it, the parent is financially and personally responsible,” Little added. “This is a lawsuit waiting to happen and I believe the state of New Mexico would lose that lawsuit.”

We’re on the front lines working to change hearts and fighting for the lives of the unborn babies.
