Sixty believers in Christ gathered at Santa Fe’s City Hall last Wednesday, April 10, filling the chamber. They gathered for a purpose, and their warmth and depth of concern was palatable. New Mexicans traveled from as far away as Belen and Albuquerque to attend the meeting.
They were there to uphold God’s standard for marriage. Clergy from various congregations spoke, both Catholic and Evangelical, as well many lay people from across numerous denominations. (SEE Media Links Below)
Everyone was there to let Santa Fe’s City Council know that a vibrant New Mexio Christian community understands and is committed to marriage between one man and one woman – traditional marriage.
The City Council members were attentive, although several have committed to the City. The Resolution proclaims homosexual “marriage” for New Mexico.
Santa Fe’s Mayor David Coss is a co-sponsor of the Resolution. Of the eight-member chamber, three are sponsors of the Resolution. Two have committed to not voting.
Only one Councilor Chris Rivera has stated unequivocally that he will vote against the measure.
It has been critical that the voice of the Christian community be heard in Santa Fe. Without the voice of believing people, our Christian churches, businesses and on all believers in Christ will be silenced and lose freedom of religion
We’d like to thank those who attended the April 10 meeting, those who spoke and especially those who prayed. Thank you and God bless you.
Yours in Christ,
Jose Vasquez
